My Journey to my fitness goals

This year has been life changing. I have worked on myself more then ever by concentrating and building a plan in four areas of my life. I been working on all these areas of my life very hard. The four areas in my life I have worked on is:

  1. Family Life
  2. Business Life
  3. Spirituality (my mind)
  4. Health and Fitness
Though out the year I worked on 1 through 3. I feel I have created and implemented great plans on how to move forward everyday in these areas. As I said these areas of concentration has been life changing but I hit a wall with Health and Fitness.

I know nothing about Health and Fitness really. When I was younger I was active and did not have to worry about weight. Now that I am 41, I am still really active but I am packing on pounds and have a really nice round belly. That has to change.

I needed to make a plan as I did with 1-3. I have found with everything else a coach or a mentor is the way to go for true success. So I decided to contact Mark Cleary at Goodlife in Peterborough. I met with Mark and he seen and understood my vision. I was lucky as Mark made time for me. I signed on with him for a year with a goal in mind and looking to tap his great knowledge of looking after your body so your mind will be sharp. I need to be energized with my body to be able to keep up with the demands of the other 3 areas of my life.

I finished my second day of training today and thought I would blog about this experience. I think that others may find what I am doing inspirational, funny or they may shake their head and wonder why I would do this to myself. (then to even blog about it)

So here we go:

Monday rolls around. I am busy but I now have a time commitment with Mark so I leave to go to the gym. If I did not have to meet Mark I would never have gone. Too busy. I met Mark right at 10 am and we start right at it. I warm up and Mark has me on assisted chin lifts. Assisted my ass, it was everything I had to give to do those lifts. Mark made sure my posture was correct and he pushed me farther then I would have ever gone myself. Despite of my whining Mark encouraged 3 more. From there we worked on squats and lunges. Ever had a shaky legs? Try squats, wow. From there we worked on boxing strikes. That was my favorite.  I will admit I was keeping an eye on clock like a dog tired UFC fighter in the 3rd round. The hour ended and Mark was off to his next client. I had a hell of a time picking myself off the floor. Mark kept telling me the first workout is the worst and I got through it. Thank god.

I got back to the office and I was shaky. Then I was sleepy. My body seemed to be revolting. I eat lunch a few hours later and felt better but started to stiffen up. The next day was stiff as well. Not so much muscles but tendons. I was sore for the day.

I woke up Wednesday and it was the same as Monday. Busy. But I had a time commitment and Mark expected me to be there. I was also soar and stiff. I could have made a million excuses but again my coach was waiting. When our session started I told Mark about my pains. I was warmed up so he said it was safe to stretch out the pain. We did and it felt great stretching the tendons. I was all happy and feeling good and Mark said start your lunges. Shit. OK. I said I was expecting sympathy and Mark just smiled and started counting. We worked on different areas and muscles. Mark pushed me to the limit. You know what, it was not as bad as the first day. Don't get me wrong, it was a killer workout but it did not seem as bad as day one. That said I was extremely shaky again after the workout. This time I ate sooner and the shakes went away quicker.

I am at a start of a journey that to me is going to be interesting. I will blog my experience and let you know how I am making out. I am going to be one of those stories, if I can do it, so can you. With this blog you will now know what to expect.
