Selwyn Firefighters play golf!

Yesterday was the second annual golf tournament for the Selwyn Firefighter Association. The event was held at Tamarac Golf Club in Ennismore. Funds raised (a little over $5000) goes to our association then is distributed to various other worth charities and our members that are in need.

I have attached photos of our hole sponsors. Please support these businesses. Without them, this event would not be as successful as it was.

We had a rainy start to the day, the golfers braved the weather and we started on time. It was a blast. Everyone seemed like they were tired from all the laughing. Not sure if quality golf was played but I assure you no one cared. Thank you for all who attended!

Rediscovering Armour Hill In Peterborough

Over the weekend we attended a wedding that was held at the pavilion behind the museum. Attending this weekend I rediscovered how cool this area is and how you should discover it too!

First of all the museum is awesome. Check out their website here. I have not been their since I was a kid. I was truly impressed with the displays. I will be returning with my children very soon.

(Wikipedia) The Peterborough Museum & Archives, formerly the Peterborough Centennial Museum and Archives (PCMA), is a historical museum located within the city of PeterboroughOntarioCanada. Found only a short distance from the Trent-Severn Waterway National Historic Site of the Peterborough Lift Lock, the museum has a history spanning well over a century and is home to the second oldest historical collection of its kind within Ontario. Thousands of linear feet of archival materials and over 33,000 artifacts are included in the collection of which only 3% is displayed at any one time due to space restrictions.

The hill and the park is just as amazing. Of coarse the views are far seeing as this is one of the highest points in Peterborough. There are benches to sit and enjoy.

I found a few ghost stories websites as well. Peterborough Ghost Walks and Oshawa Spirit Seekers

Check it out again!

Quick report on our sales numbers of real estate numbers

Things in our market have seemed they have been a little off. Maybe even slow. When you drill down on the numbers we are up in good places and down in good places. When I say this I am taking a snap shot of the whole year so far in 2014. (January to July). I think things seem off because our regular spring rush never happened. We have been steady and true.throughout the year. Number of listings are up 1%, sales numbers are up 2%, sales dollar volume up 8% and expireds are down 9%. Nothing extreme of coarse but steady as she goes!

All numbers provided is from my Association; Peterborough and The Kawarthas Association of REALTORS

"Hi Brad, How is the Real Estate Market in Peterborough and Ennismore"?

As a local Real Estate Agent in Ennismore, Lakefield, Smith and City of Peterborough, I am always asked the same question. "How is the market"? People want to know if it is a buyers market or a sellers market. Well, it all depends. I know our area is small but we have some major diversity in our market. We have rural residential, city residential, farms, condos, multifamily, residential waterfront, recreational waterfront to name a few areas. So how do I answer that question, same as I always do, it is "running straight with a sprinkle of encouragement". Why I say that, is we have had a market that has had very little movement since 2007. Most of the movement has been small increases. Ultimately that means we are doing well in the market in Peterborough. People ask if the bubble will burst? I have always said no as we have not had a "bubble" since 2002-2007.

So that all said we do have one segment that has been hurting. Waterfront. Our numbers have been shockingly low. What is the reason? I can not put my finger on one reason. I feel weather has not helped. I also feel money is tight for the average family and waterfront is a luxury that can be lived without. I also worry about the quality of water in our area. It is really poor with weeds and no one seems to be addressing the issue.

All in all there is a ton of optimism out in our market. Interest rates are low, financing is available and inventory seems to be selling in a reasonable amount of time.
