First Snowmobile Ride of the Year

The first Ride of the year!
My friend, Jon, and I decided to get out on the trails for some pre-Christmas snowmobile riding. Riding before Christmas in the Peterborough area never happens due to the lack of snow, so we needed to drive North.
A week before we decided how far we had to go, I started researching and studying where we should go. Cochrane, we knew were getting trails opened with a ton of work from their volunteers. Cochrane Snowmobile Clubs Facebook page was updated with activities and actions. That was awesome. Information is good. Problem being we only had 3 days for our trip and using 2 of the days driving was not optimal.
Everyday I keep looking and looking for information on riding up north. Then I found the Tri-Town Sno Travelers and Club Echo page on Facebook. I seen this post:
Boom! New Liskeard it was! Based on just a little information was enough for us to head that way. You know just because of that one simple post Jon and I left over $600 in the New Liskeard economy between accommodations, fuel and food.
We left Tuesday morning at 7:00am. We arrived in New Liskeard at 12:30PM. We had lunch then checked into the Holiday Inn. $160 per night. Once organized we unloaded the sleds for a quick ride.
We drove to Earlton which was around 25 miles/40 KM for my very first ride on my new snowmobile. It was fantastic. That said the temperature was dropping really fast as the day went on. When we arrived in Earlton the sun was setting and it was -28 Celsius. We decided to head back to the hotel as we planned for a full day riding the next day and 50 miles was enough to scratch the itch to get out.
For dinner that night, we went across the road from our hotel to Ali’s Grill and Bar. The place was packed. That was a good sign for sure. We had a wonderful dinner and a few drinks. I highly recommend Ali’s.
The next day we followed the A trail to Elk Lake. It was about 60 miles/96 KM. Looking for somewhere to eat we found Elk Lake Eco Resource Centre. This resort had an amazing common area and restaurant. They also had cottages to rent. It was so nice. The property was on the Montreal River.
The trails were in great shape for how early the season is. There was only a few bad areas which due to snowdrifts or brush growing up through the trails. Things you can live with.
I am hopeful the trails in our area will start to open up in the new year. With plus 7 forecasted for Monday December 23 I am not holding my breath.
One thing that I want to point out to the towns in the North that are looking to attract snowmobilers from the South. Give us information about snow and trail conditions. The trust in the OFSC mapping is minimal. We are looking for trustworthy updates. If you can do that you will have riders like us driving up to visit you!

December 2/2019 Walk and Talk

Hey everybody, Brad Sinclair here, your local Realtor, Looking to earn your real estate business by bringing you local knowledge, representation, and service.

Welcome to today’s walk and talk.

When and how did sports become politically charged to keep dividing Canadians from the political left from the political right? From Hockey Night in Canada’s Ron Maclean calling white Canadian males ---” privileged whites”----to Former Hockey commentator Don Cherry calling immigrants you people.

We also have Toronto Stars sports columnist Bruce Arthur Tweeting nasty comments to Conservative columnist Candice Malcolm call her “garbage” because he does not believe in her opinions.

It blows my mind how the left is preaching inclusiveness as long as people exclusively agree with the opinions of the left if not it is an all-out attack, just like the right attacked Jess Allen calling hockey players mean privileged white boys

What also wholly blows my mind how this has become a sports issue! Are sports not what takes ordinary Canadians minds off the reality of life for a few hours? Is sports not entertainment? Now we are being dragged into the political left and political right?? We have sports commentators telling us how good we are as people or how bad? Are sports reporters being righteous?

All I can say if professional sports reporters, columnist and their broadcasters want to be politically charged and righteous, people like me will stop watching sports. They are literally attacking their audience. So, When networks and leagues start losing money let's just see how righteous they really these people are.

The family cottage-Kasshabog Lake

The family cottage can be one of the hardest property emotionally to sell. Cottages are packed full of emotions as the cottage represents the best of times. Unfortunately, at times due to circumstances, the family cottage must be sold.

This cottage that I sold on Kasshabog Lake this fall was one of those examples. There was no joy in this sale. It was an end to an era. Since 1979 to be exact. There were 40 years of amazing memories associated with this property. The biggest solace the sellers took was knowing the buyers will continue the joy of the property for many years to come!

If you are looking for a helping professional hand to sell your waterfront property, we are always there to help.

November 4/2019 Walk and Talk-Selwyn Farmers and Businesses need Selwyn Council to stand up for them

November 4/2019 Walk and Talk

-Selwyn Farmers and Businesses need Selwyn Council to stand up for them!

-How can a Farmers Market have so much controversy?

Hey everybody, Brad Sinclair here, your local Realtor, Looking to earn your real estate business by bringing you local knowledge, representation and service. Welcome to today’s walk and talk. Another Selwyn business has been ousted from the Peterborough and District Farmers Market Association’s Saturday Mornings Farmers Market located at Morrow Park. According to the Peterborough Examiner, Kyoto Coffee located between Lakefield and Peterborough in the Township of Selwyn has had its application for a booth denied at the market after being a member for 15 years. Of course, the esteemed operations manager of the market Wade Matthews and the previously convicted of fraud, chairperson Cindy Hope was again not available for comment for the Examiner's front-page story. It does amaze me how these people make these decisions affecting local businesses, then disappear when challenged on the decision. This is not the first time a Selwyn business has been ousted from the local Farmers Market. I do wonder if Selwyn Council is going to just idly stand by or will the Mayor and council stand up publicly for the Selwyn farmers and businesses and condemn the actions of the Peterborough and District Farmers Market Association. The city has asked for applications to run the farmer's market for the next 3 years. There were two applicants. The current association who has been running the market since 1984 but has been ousting local businesses and involved in deep controversy over the last few years or a new Association that has been running the downtown farmers market smoothly without any controversy. This city has to make a decision by December 4th. Selwyn farmers and businesses deserve to be part of the farmers market and I truly believe with Selwyn council support of the ousted parties will weigh heavily on the cities decision Who will run the market.

Background! Here is the CBC story on the nonsense of activities happening at the farmers market
