Investment/Recreational Property Week 12 in Apsley Ontario

We missed last weekend in Apsley as I had to work the weekend. This weekend I did work on Sunday but I was able to enjoy Saturday with the family. In my last few blogs I have been commenting on the water levels as they have been fluctuating. Here is some pictures:

Low Creek

 Normal Creek

 Two Weeks ago high creek

OH MY CREEK

Oh boots, where are you boots? Ya, they are at home so I had to get wet feet and clean off the bridge of the floating debris. It was fricken cold. Bridge is more of a floating bridge now then a suspension bridge.

 My cheerleaders!

Another surprise I had this weekend is my little friend the beaver dropped by for a visit. I first thought he was trying to make a dam with the bridge but none of the debris on the bridge was from him. I took a walk up and down the creek and I have no idea where he is building a home.

I did get the hutch from the house set up this weekend. I also got the railing up for the stairs. Other then that Saturday was a lazy day. Just what the doctor ordered!

Investment/Recreational Property Week 10 and 11 in Apsley Ontario

Winter is coming very quick! Wow, it just seems we purchased the property in Apsley a few weeks ago! Life has been busy and I have not had as much time to enjoy the property very much in the last month. I have been going home to work on the Saturday for the last few weeks. I have not to much to report on improvements but the winterizing has been completed.

I am surprised to see the fluctuation of the creek. A few weeks ago I reported on my blog that the creek was as low as I have seen it.

Last week upon our arrival the creek was as high as I have seen it!

Property is really starting to look nice!

Spring project is remove the old shed behind the garage. It just looks awful.

Pumpkins for the kids to carve!

Weekend over, lights out!

Investment/Recreational Property Week 9 in Apsley Ontario

Another weekend come and gone, it sure goes quickly. Once again I was back home working on Saturday but Sunday was a relaxing day. It rained most of the weekend so we did finish up a few projects this weekend. I thought I would post a few before and after pictures as I am so pleased on how the property is looking.

Investment/Recreational Property Week 8 in Apsley Ontario

Fall is coming in with the quickness I hope winter does not have. It was noticeable the creek was low again upon arrival. Below is this weeks picture and last weeks picture. Notice the ladder. I would estimate at least a foot lower.

I worked on Saturday afternoon but I was still able to get a few projects done on Saturday and Sunday morning.

I finally finished trimming out the pine stairs. I still need to sand the stairs and varnish. I may be able to get up to the property and complete this week.

An issue that has been an issue well before we purchased the property was the sink was leaking.

The drain bowl was completely rotten. I purchased a kit at Kingdon Lumber in Lakefield for $5.50 and replaced the bowl.

Susan hated the faucet so while I was in the plumbing business I changed the taps as well.

Susan with her helpers put together the shelving under the sink.

Susan took some time and rearranged the furniture. I think this room is really enjoyable now to read and relax.

The last room in the cottage/home is this one on the upper level. Once this room is complete it will serve as a toy room for the kids.

As I said, fall is coming quickly. The trees are starting to change colours but not quite there yet. I would bet that next weekend will be the full fall colours. Come up for a drive, it will be beautiful.
